About The Benson Robotics Club


Who we are

We are an afterschool club at Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon. Our club has 4 teams which are known by their team numbers: 187, 267, 4560 and 7709.

What we do

We build robots! Every year we participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), a robotics competition for middle and high school students. Our main season for building is from September - January. We compete in meets and tournaments throughout January and February and if we do really well, we compete at the Oregon State Championship (and beyond!) in March.

What is FIRST Robotics?

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics is an international organization that promotes science and technology through robotics challenges. FTC Team 187 was one of the first FIRST robotics teams in Oregon. We participate in local league meets and regional competitions which are locally sponsored by Oregon Robotics Tournament Outreach Program (ORTOP).
